    Article Abstract

The effect of body shaming on self-confidence

Body shaming remains a prevalent issue among adolescents and has been shown to impact their psychological well-being, making it an urgent concern within the educational context. This study aims to analyze the effect of body shaming on self-confidence and to describe the implications for counseling guidance among high school students in Depok. The research employed a quantitative approach with a sample of 150 tenth-grade students. The normality test showed that the body shaming variable had a significance value of 0.051 (> 0.05) and the self-confidence variable had a value of 0.080 (> 0.05), indicating that both variables were normally distributed. The linearity test produced a significance value of 0.525 (> 0.05), confirming a linear relationship between the variables. Furthermore, the simple linear regression test yielded a significance value of 0.002 (< 0.05), demonstrating that body shaming has a significant effect on self-confidence. These findings indicate that higher levels of body shaming are associated with lower levels of self-confidence in students, highlighting the need for effective school counseling interventions to address and mitigate its impact.

    Article Abstract

From Wounds to Self-Worth: Understanding the Psychological Link Between Self-Esteem and Self-Harm Among Students

Self-harming behavior has become an important mental health concern among adolescents and is frequently associated with various psychological factors, including self-esteem. This study aimed to examine the effect of self-esteem on self-harm among junior high school students and to identify its implications for school guidance and counseling services. A quantitative cross-sectional correlational design was employed involving 214 Grade VIII students from SMPN 14 Bekasi, Indonesia, who were selected using simple random sampling. Data were collected using researcher-developed self-esteem and self-harm questionnaires and analyzed using descriptive statistics and simple linear regression with IBM SPSS Statistics version 20.  The findings revealed a significant negative effect of self-esteem on self-harm (β = -0.415, p < .001), indicating that students with higher self-esteem were less likely to engage in self-harming behavior. Self-esteem explained 31.6% of the variance in self-harm, suggesting that additional psychological and environmental factors may also contribute to adolescents' self-harming behavior. These findings highlight the protective role of self-esteem in reducing self-harm among adolescents and provide empirical support for the development of school-based counseling interventions that strengthen students' self-esteem and adaptive coping skills as part of preventive mental health programs.

    Article Abstract

The Magnified Imperfection : The Relationship between Body Dysmorphic Disorder and Self-Acceptance of Vocational School Students

This study aims to provide an overview and determine the relationship between Body Dysmorphic Disorder and Self-Acceptance in Students of SMK Pembangunan Jaya Yakapi. The research was conducted using quantitative methods. The data and sources in this study were students at SMK Pembangunan Jaya Yakapi, totaling 275 students and were determined to be the source of research data, this research was a random sampling study. The author's data analysis technique uses Linear Regression by collecting data, processing data, and interpreting data. The results of data interpretation values through Pearson correlation analysis show a significant negative relationship between Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD) and Self-Acceptance (SA) in students, with a correlation coefficient of r = -0.674 and a significance level of p = 0.000. The correlation coefficient value is included in the strong category which indicates that the higher the level of BDD that students have, the lower the level of self-acceptance.

    Article Abstract

Self-Confidence and Hedonism : Identifying The Social Behavior of Junior High School Student

The purpose of this study is to determine the self-confidence profile of students at SMPN 67 Jakarta, to examine the hedonism tendencies among these students, and to investigate whether there is an influence of self-confidence on hedonism. This research employs a descriptive quantitative approach. The population consisted of 180 students, and based on the Slovin formula for random sampling, a total of 124 students were selected as the sample. Data were processed using IBM SPSS version 20 with a simple linear regression analysis technique. The results of the data analysis show a t-value of -5.738 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.005, indicating that the independent variable (self-confidence) has a significant influence on the dependent variable (hedonism). Thus, the alternative hypothesis (H1) is accepted and the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected. It can therefore be concluded that the higher an individual's self-confidence, the lower their tendency toward hedonism, and vice versa. The analysis also shows an R square value of 0.213, meaning that self-confidence contributes 21.3% to the variation in hedonism, while the remaining 78.7% is influenced by other factors beyond self-confidence.

Kata kunci yang digunakan meliputi “konseling preventif” AND “bullying prevention”, “school counseling OR bimbingan konseling sekolah”, serta variasi istilah relevan lainnya.

    Article Abstract

Academic Burnout of Students Working in Metropolitan Cities: RASCH Model Analysis

During the Covid-19 pandemic, all aspects of public life were restricted, including online learning. In the process of online learning, the high number of academic targets that had to be achieved led to burnout. This study identifies academic burnout among working students in Jakarta, Indonesia. The data used were part of a pilot study conducted by the authors to assess students' academic burnout. This research employed a survey method with Rasch model analysis, using a sample of 451 participants who completed the survey via Google Form distributed through WhatsApp messages. The instrument used was the School Burnout Inventory (SBI) (Salmela et al., 2009). The results showed that 17% of students fell into the low academic burnout category, while the remaining were in the medium (59%) and high (24%) categories. Therefore, it can be concluded that working students experience academic burnout, and counseling is needed to help reduce academic burnout among students working in metropolitan areas.
